B.A. Accounting, University of Florida
Carlos Celorio is the perfect fit for Integrated Cooling Solutions — the discipline and acumen of a serious number cruncher complemented by an entrepreneurial business savvy that imagines all the possibilities.
“I spent a decade at Florida’s largest accounting firm working with companies similar to ICS — entrepreneurial in nature, yet nimble enough where you could have influence and get things done,” he says. “I’ve always liked being able to make a tangible difference and contribute toward a company’s success.”
After working his way up to senior manager, the University of Florida graduate made a change. “I became the controller of the U.S. branch of a Chilean bank for eight years,” he adds.
Well versed in the business theory and international finance, Celorio was ready for a new challenge. He was delighted when ICS co-founder David Fernandez, recruited him to join the growing commercial HVAC company. “My brother graduated with David’s brother, so I’d known David for quite some time. When he offered me the opportunity to join ICS In 2021, it seemed like a good fit.”
The growing company was on a fast track, and Celorio was eager to provide some of the internal infrastructure it needed to take full advantage of its opportunities. He went to work formalizing its accounting practices, identifying key performance indicators and gathering business data to aid ICS leaders in their strategic decision making. “My biggest focus has been adding value and doing it as efficiently as possible.”
Celorio’s contributions have helped support an impressive expansion. “ICS now has a presence in the entire state of Florida. We went from four offices with 45 employees to eight offices with well over 100 employees—and we’re still growing,” he notes.
In 2023, ICS caught the eye of Meriton, a privately held company with a portfolio of commercial HVAC companies focused on equipment sales, service, parts, and controls.
“We were acquired by Meriton in 2023, and it’s been journey,” Celorio says. “We are now the largest independent manufacturer’s rep in Florida. We’re expanding our market share, our revenues are growing, our relationships are growing, our line cards are getting more robust. It’s all been very dynamic and positive. Yet, we’re still nimble flexible enough to keep the customer’s best interest at heart. We really do pride ourselves on being a trusted advisor and delivering exceptional results — serving first and foremost our employees and manufacturers, which in turn makes our customers happy.”
These days, nimble efforts to keep the customers happy include adding new equipment lines, an expanded service department, a much more robust parts department — along with building a cooling tower reconstruction business. All are opportunities that fit right in with Celorio’s business philosophy. “I always try to look for the opportunity in everything,” he admits. “See how we can make processes better, the business better, follow the greater good—even if it’s more work.”
